Statistics:

WTF Taekwondo is practised by around 70 million students in 189 countries with over 1.5 million registered Black Belts. 70% of martial artists in the USA practice, or have practiced Taekwondo.

Taekwondo can trace its lineage back to the Silla kingdom in 18BC when it was know as Soo Bak Do. Modern Taekwondo was created and named in the 1950’s.
There are two main styles and organisations of Taekwondo – WTF and ITF.

Some smaller organisations subscribe to neither style of syllabus and remain independent. There are nearly 2000 Registered WTF Instructors in the UK alone.
